Here&#8217;s a quick summary<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Questions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Why collaborate?<\/li><li>Why block programming? Would middle schoolers find block programming way too easy?<\/li><li>Would making them work in silos get away from collaboration?<\/li><li>What\u2019s the focus?<ul><li>Learn to collaborate?<\/li><li>Collaborate to learn?<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Are middle school students really opposed to collaboration?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Suggestions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Watch middle schoolers play Minecraft<\/li><li>Use Figma as a testing ground<\/li><li>Take advantage of ARENA<\/li><li>Talk to coaches\/teachers<\/li><li>Consider anonymize students<\/li><li>They might have opinions of each other<\/li><li>NHSGA is a high school version of this experience<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-medium-font-size\">References<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Color Water Pipe, past etc project that inspired schell games<\/li><li>PICO CTF 2021 Project<\/li><li>Previous Alice ETC Project<\/li><li>Wick Editor<\/li><li>Muppets<\/li><li>Codespark<\/li><li>World Peace Games<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Takeaway<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall the biggest takeaway we had were that <strong>The relationship between Collaboration and Learning is unclear. <\/strong>There was a huge difference between &#8220;Collaborating to learn&#8221; and &#8220;Learning to collaborate&#8221; because collaboration is also a skill and we should decide if we want to use our experience to teach it as a skill, or just use collaboration as a way to help students learn other educational contents<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Intro After the background research, we now think that we have a solid understanding of the problem space and we are ready to present our problem space to faculty for 1\/4s walkaround!
