Last week, we established what tools we have at our disposal. The next question, then, is what we aim to create, or more precisely, how to achieve the best possible outcome within a limited timeframe. The result needs to meet both the client\u2019s expectations and the instructor\u2019s requirements, while still leaving room for creativity and opportunities for personal growth and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given Tilt Five\u2019s \u201cpeeking into a box\u201d top-down perspective and the turn-based, tactical combat system of the original Aidyn Chronicle, our designers looked to similar games for inspiration. Titles such as Baldur\u2019s Gate 3 and the Pathfinder series naturally caught our attention. These games share several key qualities: their player perspective aligns well with the Tilt Five platform, and narrative plays a central role in the overall experience. In addition, they all feature combat that takes place directly within explorable environments rather than in isolated encounters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our designers believe that one of Tilt Five\u2019s most distinctive strengths is the ability to adjust players’ real-world viewpoint to observe different aspects of the game space. To fully leverage this feature and integrate it into gameplay, we propose retaining Aidyn\u2019s original turn-based combat while incorporating a map exploration stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on this concept, the designers created a compact gameplay experience in which players begin at different corners of the map and gradually make their way toward the center. Along the way, they encounter recruitable characters, collectible items, and chests hidden in less visible areas. Players are required to adjust their viewpoint continuously to uncover information embedded in the environment. They must also make appropriate choices in branching dialogue to successfully recruit allies. Ultimately, they converge at the center of the map, where they use the resources they have gathered to face off against another player.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At first, it sounded like an exciting concept. In practice, however, it quickly revealed several challenges. On one hand, the workload required to deliver a complete experience was far beyond what could reasonably be achieved within a single semester. On the other hand, our client, who is also our instructor, emphasized that our primary focus should be on building a pipeline that can support future development. A complete experience was not the main priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, the idea was soon set aside. Our team adjusted its direction and shifted its focus toward creating a sustainable, easy-to-understand foundation that will support future developers in building on what we establish this semester. With this shift, our mission statement became clear: we are the first explorers working to reforge the 25-year-old Aidyn for the Tilt Five AR platform.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
