Dev Blog: Week 13

Project Summary

This week we had the soft opening on Monday morning. This week we mainly focus on implement based on the feedback from faculties we got from soft opening

Current Schedule

  • Soft opening
  • Merged all the changes we did on the RPIS scene back to the Hot Metal Bridge
  • Book update
  • Debug map view
  • Continue to update art assets in map view
  • Add photo function where player can place objects in the scene after winning level 3
  • Working on the video trailers

What went well

  • Book animation
  • Place enemies and turrets for photo in the scene
  • First draft of the video

Art Update

Map Update

The map directional arrow is updated with a visual effects of pointing to indicate the direction where the player needed to go.

Book Update

The book is updated with a animation of flipping the book. The animation will be played at the end of winning each game

Programming Update

Win State

This is added to a new scene for the player to freely display objects as they like and they can take photo with those. This scene will be available after winning each scene.

Shared AR Photo Scene

We added the the shared AR feature to the photo scene so that players can see the virtual art assets other player placed in the AR though their phone and they can take photos together. This scene have not been added to the game or fully polished yet. We will do so next week

Soft Opening

We had 3 faculty played our game during the soft opening. Our gameplay location is still inside the ETC. During the playtest we found out that it is hard to playtest a location based game in another location. Since our game is very tailored towards the view on the bridge, it’s difficult to get a full representation of what the game looks like on the bridge when we playtest in another location.
