Week 11: Mar 25, 2024 – Mar 29, 2024

  • Tech – complete walkthrough(with all assets) of stage 1 and working on stage 2 
  • Art – More 2D and 3D Art assets for stage 2
  • LBE – Speaker, Roof, Decorations for the stands, photos
  • Sound – Stage 3 sound and modified stage 1 and 2
  • Playtest – Our client visit us for playtest on Tuesday

We are preparing our work for our playtest day happening on April 6th. Our goal is to have a complete stage 1 and stage 2 and provide a thorough walk through for the whole experience. This week, we are working on stage 2, the cooking stage, and location based sound elements for stage 1 and stage 2.

Tech:

This is our tech demo for our complete stage 1 and starting on the stage 2, we have managed to finish all the game mechanics for stage 1 and stage 2. We will be iterate our result through playtests with our professor, our client, our consultant, our SME, and players during playtest day.

LBE – speakers, roof, decorations for the stands, photos  

We have implement four ultrasonic speakers to four stages and we wanted to achieve the result of the sound will come from the correspond stage (stage 1 correspond with wood and paint shop, stage 2 correspond with vegetable and meat stations.) We have also decorated the stations with roof and photos from the Heinz Museum hoping players to learn more about Pittsburgh Chinatown history.

Art:

We managed to create transaction comic between stage 1 and stage 2, we have also created the video along with the audio.

Besides transition 2D comic, we have also created tutorial page for instructions on stage 2. Along with the instructions, we have made the dishes UI after our players complete the cooking stages.

For 3D, we have made more NPCs for stage 2:

We have made some sound for stage 3 and modified some of the sound for stage 1 and 2.

Playtest with client:

We have playtested with our client on Tuesday, and received a lot of useful feedback:

  • Flip UI? ‘Look at’ feature in ARENA- “target”/my camera 
  • smaller ui (less obtrusive)
  • shadows on the chinatown building cast shadows (soft shadowing)
  • Quest 3? (Localize without the tag and alignment/laser pointer might be helpful)
  • April tag is always there (hide?)
  • Real light interact with the scene well be cool
  • Thinking about the future before the playlets day (firework might draw ppl’s eyes)
  • Decorate the table
  • More April tag on the stations – extra measuring for the anchor focal area(to re snap to re-adjust)
  • Grassy material/land for stage 0? (Texture of the buildings is a little bit confusing)(decide not to show and everything empty, just the landlord himself)
  • 1m*1m zone/box collider(trigger sth) to experience to test the physical space
  • Hide wires
  • How to record the final result? Quest3 recorder?

We will be modifying our project considering those feedbacks.

Tech – Add second stage, location based element speaker 

Art – Make wood sign, LBE elements, more NPC modeling for stage 2

Design – stage 2 LBE elements in room, stage 2 interaction(LBE, ARENA) stage 2 complete UI
