Week 7

Our seventh week started off with our halves presentation, as the second team to present overall.

Halves!

We had been working on the presentation for several days prior, as mentioned in our previous blog. This process showed us the difficulty of condensing our ideas and work up to now in the 15 minutes we would be given to present them to faculty, and it challenged us to be as succinct and clear as possible. It was also an opportunity to understand how best to convey important information through visuals and text in our slide deck, as well as how to carry ourselves during the presentation.

Working on the presentation also pushed us to clarify certain aspects of our project, such as the experience journey.

Experience journey map

Last Thursday, we showed our slides to our instructors in the RPIS (the presentation space) to get their feedback and suggestions, and we also tested how to use microphones, stand “on stage”, etc. Then, on Sunday, we went back to the RPIS to go over the presentation together, and actually practice presenting, to make sure we didn’t go overtime and applied all the suggestions we got. We also made sure the presentation worked tech-wise.

Experience stages as shown in the presentation

As a team, we felt that the presentation went okay, and the feedback from all faculty that we received yesterday from our instructors echoed this. There are a few things we could have certainly improved on, though, which we aim to apply in our final presentation. Additionally, comments helped us realize that some aspects of the project seem to be somewhat unclear still, which pushes us to define them as soon as possible.
