This week marks a major achievement for our team: we’ve officially submitted Otter Agent—Truth or Lie to the App Store! You can download it here: App Store Link. We welcome everyone to give it a try and enjoy the game!

To make this release happen, we finalized key elements such as the game’s connection setup, pre-game rules, and addressed bugs that surfaced during the playtest night we attended on Tuesday.
Design and Art

We’ve completed the first draft of the rulebook, which combines manga illustrations with text descriptions to help players get a sense of the game. While we don’t expect players to fully grasp the gameplay just from reading the rules—since the best way to learn is by playing—we aim to give them a foundational understanding of how the mechanics work.

Based on feedback from our instructors, the next revision of the rulebook will include an overall introduction that outlines the game’s four stages, followed by a gradual explanation of each phase. Additionally, we plan to emphasize the use of heart rate monitoring in the game, a feature that enhances the “spy” feel and sets Truth or Lie apart from other experiences.

Game Ending

At the end of the game, players will see an on-screen summary that displays their final score. This includes details such as who they guessed correctly and who they successfully deceived, adding a layer of reflection and strategy to the experience.

Programming
Frontend-wise, we have successfully incorporated the rules illustrations into the phone app with smooth animated transitions. Additionally, we’ve reorganized the views and resolved existing UI issues on the watch. With the entire gameplay experience now polished, we are focusing on enhancing user experience in the next iteration, guided by feedback and insights from playtests. Backend-wise, we implemented functionality to establish the order in which players enter the room, ensuring that the small otter icons in the waiting room are displayed accurately. Additionally, we resolved a bug where players’ names were being reset if they switched between creating and joining a room after navigating back.
