This week, Beyond Frame took its first major steps toward defining the experience we want to create.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During our client meeting, we explored different ways to connect visitors with artworks through interactive technology. Our client, Stephen, shared several key goals: capturing the visitor’s presence, creating a memorable moment within the artwork, and providing a physical keepsake that visitors could take home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One important question guided our discussion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How can we create an experience that is playful and engaging without becoming silly or distracting from the artwork itself?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exploring Different Possibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We began by looking at several landscape paintings, focusing on their sense of depth, atmosphere, and familiarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These artworks suggested the possibility of offering visitors a brief escape into another world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From there, we explored several possible experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some concepts involved changing the composition, lighting, or atmosphere of a landscape. Others experimented with collecting elements from different paintings to create personalized collages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also considered capturing visitors’ natural expressions and movements, using real-time style transfer to integrate them into an artwork, and extending paintings into physical space through augmented reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stepping Into the Painting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Among these ideas, one direction became particularly interesting: allowing visitors to physically enter the world of a painting.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead of simply viewing an artwork or editing its appearance, visitors could walk through a physical frame and see themselves transformed into part of the painting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artwork could then respond to their movement, creating a stronger connection between the visitor and the painted environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This direction combines several ideas we explored: real-time visual integration, spatial interaction, and the feeling of stepping beyond the boundaries of traditional artwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also creates an opportunity to capture a personal moment that visitors can take home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking Ahead<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

By the end of the week, we began narrowing our exploration toward combining real-time stylistic integration with the experience of entering a painting<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our next step is to translate these early concepts into paper prototypes and investigate how visitors might interact with different artworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are still at the beginning of the design process, but one idea is becoming central to Beyond Frame:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
