During Week 11, within an integrated wireframe of our game, “Truth or Lie,” we focused on implementing this flow into an actual build. Additionally, based on more playtests, our team gathered more feedback and iterated on our game flow to make the experience smoother. Lastly, our team updated our project website, removing all placeholders and refining the layout.
UI/UX
This week, we refined the wireframes, recreated a rough prototype that can be directly pulled into development, and created interactions that visualize the entire flow. Throughout the testing, we found that a long press is a good solution for transitioning to the next step, which aligns with our hypothesis. For this week, we will work closely with our developers to check out flows and interactions. In addition, during brown box user testing of the flow, we found that some gameplay sections were missing pages, and we need to reconsider the long-press interaction as it was not very intuitive. We will be improving the overall flow and also researching Apple UI animations/micro-interactions that are suitable and feasible for our interaction.
Game Design
Based on our weekly playtests, our team refined the game flow, especially rethinking the win conditions and the ending, the number of question rounds, and creating variations for the speaker round. For the next week’s playtest, we plan to conduct A/B testing, applying different speaker round actions and sequences for receiving roles and question prompts. We want to focus on gameplay and gather feedback for game process improvement, evaluate the level of questions, and assess how players feel about their heart rate during the game.
Development
From the development side, we have merged our UI Xcode project and Server Xcode project into a single Xcode project in order to implement the complete gameplay on a single app. Although we have demonstrated that the server functions are workable, we need to figure out what stats and values the server needs to process and how UI views should react to the changes of those values. After finalizing the gameplay wireframes, we are set to construct the UI views and transitions to deliver the wireframe. We will complete the in-app gameplay once the server’s configuration is ready.
For the next week, we will be focusing on the playtest day preparation, including survey for feedback gathering, and also framing our pitch outline.
