Function Testing

In Week 2, our team presented the initial design concept to the client and discussed the Apple Developer Kit, exploring the functionalities that could be achieved. After obtaining confirmation for open access to the development API, our team programmers began setting up the development environment for the Apple Watch. Four programmers each will be testing a function: server, health kit, nearby interaction, and GPS.

Composition Box workshop

During the composition box workshop, our team received feedback for making the fundamental treasure hunt more innovative. The Apple Watch functions should not only be implemented into the mini-games but also into the finding process. If the gameplay is solely based on following navigation and finding the signal, it lacks engagement for the player. We will specify the game flow in the following week as we realize the fundamental functions of the game.

Interview Prep

The team designers formulated a set of questions for interviewing Apple Watch users, such as how people use the Apple Watch, how our actions influence the Apple Watch, and the feedback we receive. We also explored what users consider a unique feature of the Apple Watch that distinguishes it from actions that can be performed on a phone. Specific examples given by interviewees, discussing situations where they use the watch, will be collected.

Next, the designers set up the project website in WordPress, updated the brainstorm and idea documents on the project blog, and documented weekly updates.

For the next week quarter, our team’s goal is to have a playable demo that incorporates one of the data collection functionalities with data sharing. This feature forms the basis of our party mini-game.
