Get Ready

Welcome to the inaugural blog post from Team Beyond Touch!

This week, we decided our team name, “Beyond Touch.” While traditional interactions with the Apple Watch involve tapping and scrolling on the screen, making it a smartwatch, we see this as only the most direct interaction. Given the watch’s ability to measure body status, such as heart rate fluctuation, we consider this an interaction where users influence data by their actions. Our goal is to create a social gameplay experience based on the various data collected by the Apple Watch, allowing players to interact with the watch beyond simple touch.

In our first instructor meeting this week, we discussed with our mentors and technical consultant/client, exploring the real-time data that the Apple Watch could collect. Each team member received an Apple Watch, gaining hands-on experience with its functionalities and its unique features. Drawing on these features, our team developed multiple one-sentence pitches combining the watch-collected data with gameplay.

Our objective is to embed the Apple Watch within its special features into traditional gameplay, enhancing the overall fun factor.
