This week, the first part of our plan is to finish the new MIDI pipeline and then fix the problem of attack animation out of sync.
Debugging beat sync problem is tricky because human perception of the rhythm can be inaccurate. Sometimes we can tell that an animation is out of sync, but we cannot tell exactly how much it is off from the correct timing. We try to work around this problem by taking a video of the playthrough and put it into the editing software to find out the exact time difference.
Based on our test, the timing is off beat by about 0.4 second. We are still trying to figure out the reason that cause this delay. For now, we can for testing purpose.
We also want to make sure we have enough time to prepare for Half Presentation, which is coming on next Wednesday. According to our mentors’ suggestion, the main challenge here is still how to clearly explain the hard problem we are dealing with to the audience.
Next week we will prepare our slides and texts, and then go through it with our advisor to get feedbacks on important things to change.
