WEEK 13

After soft openings (play testing session with our Faculty), from our feedback, we decided to focus more on the ending coming together AR scene and set it as our utmost priority over other builds or camera movements this week. The feedback that we got from the Softs was mainly about improving the user experience by iterating the UI. Another important feedback was that many faculty members believe that we need to push on the experimental nature of our project. And most of them think using AR to build a final reward scene was a good idea.

Art

Based on feedback from Soft Opening, the art team shifted its focus to polishing the final AR “coming together” scene, where the physical LEGO build merges with the virtual environment. The team completed the look development for the building space and introduced a large shell-shaped LEGO asset as the visual centerpiece. Lighting was finalized using point and spotlights to define the primary build zone and improve spatial clarity. All environmental VFX—including underwater fog, caustics, and bubbles—were polished, and final terrain and asset placements were locked in to complete the visual world.

Programming

This week’s main focus was on developing the AR experience using object tracking. The BrickBond poster was used as the initial object for detection training. Once detected by the camera, the final AR scene was triggered, allowing users to see their LEGO build come to life in the virtual space. Further functionality is being developed to recognize actual LEGO block formations, to dynamically trigger contextual AR overlays based on physical builds.

UI/UX

The UI/UX team delivered a pixel-perfect, high-fidelity prototype for all user-facing interfaces. This included onboarding flows, instructional overlays, in-game feedback systems, and the ending scene UI. The prototype was presented to our instructors and clients for final feedback. At the same time, the team completed a thorough design documentation package that clearly outlined visual assets, interaction logic, and implementation notes to ensure a smooth handoff to developers. The UI/UX work is now at a handoff-ready stage pending final implementation.
