WEEK 4/5
Based on the 1/4’s feedback, we are going to have a development stage test through the weekly Playtest Night at the Hunt Library, CMU, and the Alpha test with our prototype version during the ETC Playtest Day. Fortunately, one of our teammates also has a family member who meets our target user (13 years old) and is willing to support our development stage test. We made our project’s testing and developing schedule relying on those resources.
Development Stage Test
02/15/2025
This is the first test of our project, conducted by a 13-year-old boy who loves LEGO. We need to confirm if our project can successfully run as planned. This test is also a rehearsal for the formal test at the Playtest Night on the 18th, to discover some bugs and issues that may affect the test in advance.
Development Stage Test
02/18/2025
For this test, we will attend the Playtest Night as our first formal test and we will mainly test the virtual site. We will ask the tester to simulate the experience of the Brick-by-Brick Programme but use virtual LEGO to build it. This test will focus on whether players will feel confused by using virtual LEGO and identify controlling issues to ensure that the user experience is intuitive.
Alpha Test
03/29/2025
The version used for this test is the prototype version with all planned features, we will have both physical and virtual sites. We will require testers to test within real scenarios. So we will verify if our user experience is smooth enough, as well as if the players have experienced similar experiences with the Brick-By-Brick Programme from our project. We will also make final adjustments based on the feedback to ensure that our experience is rigorous and complete.
Beta Test
Soft Opening Week
The Beta Test will be similar to the Alpha Test, but using an updated prototype version. Continue to verify and improve the above goals while listening to the opinions and suggestions of ETC faculties. Getting prepare for the final version.
For the communication part, suggested by some faculties during the 1/4, we decide to connect Zoom meeting into our project since Zoom has already established a mature video communication system. However, we found it was difficult and might out of scope for connect Zoom into VR headset. During week 5, we decided to transform the physical site from VR platform to tablet. Besides this change decision, week 5 is a hardworking week and we were keep developing the program and get ready for the incoming test sessions.
