With the semester in full gear and the halfway point on the horizon, we pulled together a playable prototype for both the regularly scheduled Playtesting Night on main campus and a playtest session with our clients and the students at the Ruach Bicycle Club on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To properly test the drag-and-drop building features, we created a preliminary interface design with separate tabs for track pieces and other pieces for the area surrounding the pump track. We also created a user flow for entering the build mode and how the user would switch between designing and testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the programming side, we implemented this initial UI with placeholder buttons, so that dragging a piece from the UI into the world instantly spawns an object that can be placed down or attached to another track piece. We added highlighting in an outline around the piece so that a piece could be selected without the user needing to hold down on the mouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also implemented key features this week, including the ability to save built tracks into a file and load them in, as well as the mode switching between building and riding. With that, we were ready to playtest!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
