Week 2

In the second week of the project, we had meetings with our client and instructors and decided our direction with our platform cavern.

In terms of the specific development work, the following contents were mainly completed in the first and second weeks:

1. Setting up the CAVERN environment and ODS

As we will have our 1/4 walkaround in a week, we want to first build a scene that features ODS and present it to our faculties. By doing this we can better communicate what it feels like to have ODS in a projection system to faculties. By doing this we can get better-quality feedback and advices.

2. Poster 、Logo and half sheet

Our work all has to revolve around Cavern, so the first version of the logo and poster is ‘CAVERN’.

Here are some design processes for our logo. We want our logo to communicate the mood we want to give our players.

The content of our poster and half sheet is a person looking up at the cavern screen. The variety of colors is indicating the variety of content we want to give our players.

3. Continue to discuss our core mechanics

Based on the characteristics of the Cavern, we had a brainstorm about our core mechanics and listed some possible interactions. We tried combining different kinds of mechanisms as modules and see what experience we can get out of it.
