Week 10

Note: Development was suspended during Week 9 due to GDC.

Playtest Preparation and Execution

This week, our primary focus was on preparing for and conducting a successful playtest day, which took place on Saturday. To ensure a smooth playtesting experience, we decided to limit the playtest to the first level of the game and prepared a corresponding questionnaire for the participants.

Playtest Data Analysis

We gathered data from 40 valid playtest participants, excluding those under the age of 16. Here are some key findings from the playtest:

  1. The majority of players did not experience discomfort due to the 3D effects, indicating that our graphics settings and camera speed were appropriate for player comfort.

2. Most participants were able to understand and utilize the game’s controls effectively.

3. The in-game instructor we provided did not perform as expected, potentially due to an excessive amount of verbal explanation of game features.

4. Encouragingly, the majority of players felt immersed in the cavern environment.

Overall, the playtest was a resounding success. We also received several written suggestions, which we will consider and implement during subsequent development stages.

Playtest Day Photos

Attached below are several photos from the playtest day, showcasing the enjoyable experience had by all participants:

We look forward to refining our game based on the feedback we received and continuing development in the coming weeks.
