Jessica Hammer is the Thomas and Lydia Moran Associate Professor of Learning Science, jointly appointed in the HCI Institute and the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University. Her research focuses on transformational games, which are games that change how players think, feel, or behave. She is also an award-winning game designer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

To create a home for transformational games and to strengthen Carnegie Mellon University’s research and development of them, the School of Computer Science is launching the Center for Transformational Play. The research center will invite collaborations with faculty, students and staff from the Human-Computer Interaction Institute(opens in new window)<\/a> (HCII); the Entertainment Technology Center(opens in new window)<\/a> (ETC); the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy(opens in new window)<\/a>; the College of Fine Arts(opens in new window)<\/a>; the Integrative Design, Arts and Technology (IDeATe) Network(opens in new window)<\/a>; the Neuroscience Institute(opens in new window)<\/a>; and programs focused on psychology and sociology.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
