While this version didn\u2019t include many features, it allowed us to experiment with player scaling. We shrunk the player down to 20cm and enlarged the surrounding assets to create a sense of miniaturization. Additionally, we gathered playtester feedback on the art assets to ensure they fit the game\u2019s intended style and atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-default-sans-font-family has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\"><strong>Challenges &amp; Solutions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\" style=\"margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\">\n<p class=\"has-default-sans-font-family wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\"><strong>Scene Size Limitations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\">One major challenge we faced was the limited physical play area. Since the player is shrunk down, the environment needs to appear much larger in proportion. However, even with faculty support, we could only secure a 4\u00d74 meter play space, which wasn\u2019t large enough to allow free movement in an oversized world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\">To address this, we came up with two potential solutions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\" class=\"wp-block-list has-small-font-size\">\n<li>Designing each level as a separate scene rather than combining all three levels into a single large environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increasing the in-game walking distance, so each step covers more ground. This would create the illusion of a larger space while keeping actual movement minimal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\">In the coming iterations, we plan to test both approaches and determine which works best for player immersion and practicality.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"has-default-sans-font-family wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\"><strong>Workflow &amp; Communication Issues<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\">We also encountered challenges in team coordination due to unclear roles and communication gaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\" class=\"wp-block-list has-small-font-size\">\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">The game design team lacked clear task assignments, causing confusion about responsibilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Some team members were unaware of what others were working on, leading to inefficiencies when integrating work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\">To resolve this, we identified the problem and decided to hold a team meeting next week to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\" class=\"wp-block-list has-small-font-size\">\n<li>Clarify individual roles and responsibilities to improve efficiency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Define clear short-term and long-term goals to keep everyone aligned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"has-default-sans-font-family wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\"><strong>Next Steps<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">Moving forward, our focus will be on improving team coordination and refining our level design approach based on scene size constraints.
