Overview<\/span><\/h2>

In week 2, we advanced our character research, visited Chosky Theater, and created preliminary sketches based on the floor plan. Additionally, we drafted a budget form, outlined the structure of our user experience map, and held a client meeting to refine our direction.<\/span><\/p>

Meetings<\/span><\/h2>

This week’s meeting with Shirley<\/strong> focused on<\/span><\/span><\/span> setting, user journey, and practical elements.<\/span><\/p>

  • Creating an immersive atmosphere with lighting, audio, and tactile elements.<\/span><\/li>
  • Discussing number of stations, luggage per station, and throughput.<\/span><\/li>
  • Exploring sound effects, such as announcements and steam, while maintaining balanced audio levels.<\/span><\/li>
  • Considering borrowing props and equipment and flagged music copyright and available lighting equipment at ETC for research.<\/span><\/li>
  • Effectively communicating boarding pass and RFID features to users.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

    During this week’s client meeting<\/strong>, we discussed about the character research for the luggage, and our client suggested avoiding a focus on luggage tied to characters from the musical to prevent plot spoilers. We also explored the possibility of borrowing props and equipment from the Drama Department for the installation.<\/span><\/div>

    We began researching historically documented figures and items from the Titanic to incorporate meaningful storytelling elements and brainstormed ways to utilize their stories and artifacts effectively.<\/span><\/div>

    Logo concept<\/span><\/h2>

    This week, we began drafting our team logo! Here are some design ideas that align with both our team name and the style of our experience.<\/span><\/p>

    We mapped out the emotional journey from hopeful boarding to reflective closure, aligning with the themes of Titanic the Musical. The journey is divided into three key transitions, each with distinct colors and imagery:<\/span><\/p>

    • Boarding on the Ship (Hopeful): Bright colors like orange and yellow set a warm, optimistic tone with imagery of sunshine and seagulls.<\/span><\/li>
    • Hitting the Iceberg (Chaotic): Blue and green dominate, evoking the underwater chaos of the ocean.<\/span><\/li>
    • Survivors on Their Way Home (Peaceful but Eerie): Black, navy, and yellow create a somber yet serene atmosphere under a starry night sky.<\/span><\/li>

    • Next, we will define roles for facilitators to distribute boarding passes and guide interactions with luggage and props to enhance the immersive storytelling experience.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

      We visited Chosky Theater on the main campus as a team and had a better understanding of the space. We sketched the station layout, and measured heights to plan for fabric purchases.<\/span><\/p>
