Overview<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our project is a transformational game<\/strong> centered around the theme of freedom of speech<\/strong>. The target audience is limited to CMU students<\/strong>, but beyond that, we have full creative freedom in how we approach the topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet the Team<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After finalizing our work schedule, we held a meeting to get to know each other’s backgrounds and goals. Our team consists of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • One 2D artist<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Two 3D artists<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • One programmer<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • One UI\/UX designer<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • One technical artist<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    In addition to our primary roles, everyone is contributing in multiple areas, including game design, narrative design, and sound design<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    We also met with our faculty advisor to clarify the project’s objectives. The key requirements are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • The game is targeting specifically at CMU students<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • It should help players gain a deeper understanding<\/strong> of freedom of speech<\/strong>, both from a legal perspective (e.g., constitutional rights)<\/strong> and a university policy standpoint<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Players should be able to distinguish between legal regulations and ethical considerations<\/strong> and understand how context affects speech<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      To build a foundation for our project, our advisor provided us with various links and video resources<\/strong> showcasing other interactive projects on this topic. These helped us gain initial insights and served as inspiration for finding our own direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Early Feedback & Inspiration<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      On Friday, we participated in the Composition Box activity<\/strong>, where we gathered feedback from fellow students. Some of the ideas and preferences we received included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • A dating simulator<\/strong> format<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • A choice-based gameplay structure<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Character customization<\/strong> for better player immersion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        These insights sparked numerous creative ideas within the team. Based on this feedback, we will brainstorm gameplay ideas that align with our theme.<\/p>\n\n\n

        Challenges We Face<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
          \n
        1. Lack of familiarity with transformational game structures<\/strong> \u2013 Since only few of us have extensive experience with transformational games, we need to research and understand their frameworks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. High degree of creative freedom<\/strong> \u2013 While having no strict constraints is exciting, it also means we must take the initiative<\/strong> to define our direction.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Next Steps<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          • Attend the Transformational Game Workshop<\/strong> to gain a better understanding of best practices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Conduct preliminary research<\/strong> on this topic.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
