John Dessler
ETC Project Instructor
John is a creative director, programmer, writer, entrepreneur, musician, performer, and digital/fine artist. He is currently special faculty at the ETC, Carnegie Mellon University teaching Visual Story/Communication, VR Story and Sound, Location-Based Entertainment, UI/UX Design, digital art and design. — He has been contracted by, and freelances for companies such as GE, NBC, Tyco, Heinz, and various museums and productions – specializing in visual communication and digital training.

Laurie is a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University. Her Auditory Lab conducts research on the perception of environmental sounds and their multimodal interactions (e.g. videos, words, gestures). She has conducted research on sound recognition in normal and hearing-impaired listeners, sound localization, misophonia, echolocation, machine learning, sound categorization, sound synthesis, virtual reality, auditory displays, noise-induced hearing loss, and effects of noise.

Diane Turnshek is a researcher at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. She has been on the board of directors for both the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America and Parsec, Pittsburgh’s premier science fiction organization. She is published in Analog Magazine of Science Fiction and Fact and edited Parsec’s Triangulation anthology multiple times.
