Week 7

This week the team presented their progress and future plans during the halves presentations and received mostly positive feedback from the faculty with some suggestions on what can be improved.

Level Design - Update

We updated our level design to fit everything in scope and created concept art on what we want the main level to look like. Our current plan is to have two levels as mentioned in last week’s blog. We detailed out the objectives in both the levels and made concept art to show what they would look like:

Tutorial Level

  • Let players get familiar with the control of pogo stick.
  • Then get to the “red arrow” spot to enter the main level.

Main Level

  • Finish the game objectives.
  • Then reach the tallest point of the main level.
  • Game ends (Unlocks free-roam mode)

Tech Art - Update

We added three unique VFX to differentiate the normal jump with small boost jump and a large boost jump. Here are the effects:

Gameplay and Animation - Update

We added a main menu in before starting the game so with a character animation to make it visually appealing for the players. Here is the main menu:

Halves Presentation

We also worked on making the slides for the halves presentation on Friday. Here is a video of the presentation:

Next Steps:

  • Finish adding the game logic post fall-break holidays.
  • Act on feedback and suggestions received during halves presentation.
