Hazel Li is a 3D artist and tech artist who loves pushing creative boundaries in game design, bringing immersive worlds to life through artistic expression and emotional resonance.

Benjamin Walker

Experience Designer

Walker will found a Gaming Studio & Ent Co. and operate as its Studio Head, Lead Game Designer. The studio will specialize in minoritized-youth designed and marketed cultured immersive experiences.

John Dessler

John is a creative director, programmer, writer, entrepreneur, musician, performer, and digital/fine artist. He is currently special faculty at the ETC, Carnegie Mellon University teaching Visual Story/Communication, VR Story and Sound, Location-Based Entertainment, UI/UX Design, digital art and design.

Heather Kelley

Heather Kelley is an award-winning game designer, media artist, curator, and Associate Teaching Professor at the ETC.  Her professional career began in AAA games with companies like Ubisoft, Eidos (Ion Storm), Girl Games and Behavior Interactive.  She is a founding member of the influential experimental game collective Kokoromi, developers of VR puzzle game SUPERHYPERCUBE, and she co-curated Joue le jeu, a groundbreaking exhibition of games and installations in Paris, France.  Her experimental game work focuses on unique sensory effects, integrating perceptions of touch, smell, movement, sound, and nervous system response.  Some of her research interests include disability justice and fighting climate change. Heather works to make games more accessible, equitable, and nourishing, as well as poetic and delicious.

SME

Vivian Shen

Vivian Shen is a PhD Student at Carnegie Mellon University. She’s a fifth year in the Robotics Institute doing research with the Future Interfaces Group, advised by Prof. Chris Harrison. Her research builds on her background in embedded systems, sensing, and computer vision, and is currently focused on building novel haptic interactions that augment user experiences in mixed reality.

CONSULTANT

Dave Culyba

Dave received a B.S. in Computer Science and a Master’s in Entertainment Technology from Carnegie Mellon University. He has since worked at Electronic Arts as part of the team that created the computer game Spore, was a co-founder of the startup Interbots which worked on combining robotics and apps to create both entertainment and therapeutic experiences for kids, and is also one of the core members of the Alice research team working to create software to help teach students how to program. He is an active participant in game jams and was the co-organizer of the “Now I Get It!” jam.
