Week 1 – January 17, 2025

Team Alignment and Project Scoping

This week marked significant progress in both the educational journey and our team’s project development. We initiated several team meetings and brainstorming sessions to align our objectives and spark creative ideas. Project requirements were organized, and the application process for necessary equipment was facilitated. Assessing the skill levels of each team member allowed for more effective project scoping.

Expert Consultations

Consulting with experts, Andrew Navratil and Matthew Michaud, helped us understand virtual production.

Technical Setup and Tools Exploration

We delved into Autodesk Flow tutorial videos shared by John, registered for the 30-day free trial, and explored its functionalities. Discussions with second-year students led us to consider holding a workshop with John to better understand the tool’s workflow.

We discovered documentation on how to use Perforce as a version control system for Unreal Engine 5 (UE5) and set it up. The next step involves requesting Steve Audia to create a Perforce folder for us.

Meanwhile, our team researched MoCap options and created a poster for Friday’s workshop. Conversations with Ricardo about collaborating with his texture class were initiated, and a visit for announcements is planned for next week.

Art Direction and Design Development

We decided on a stylized art direction and gathered references for building styles, while also progressing with sketches for the giant, team logo, and poster—all approved for further development by Professor Yee.
