Week 12 Blog: Alpha Build
Week 12 was all about the Alpha Build—our last major milestone before polishing and final presentations. After Week 11, we worked with faculty to set clear priorities, as they were concerned our design intentions weren’t fully coming through in gameplay.
For the Softs Build, we focused on three main goals:
- Add a Narrative Ending:
We needed to give the characters and story proper closure, leaving players with an impactful and emotional takeaway. - Fix Game-Breaking Bugs:
Persistent issues like objects falling through the floor were addressed to improve overall stability and player experience. - Finalize Art and Assets:
All 3D and 2D assets, textures, and models were updated to reflect the finished look, ensuring the environment felt complete and authentic.
We had some stretch goals, like refining the tutorial and polishing game mechanics, but development took longer than expected. As a result, we had to focus on these core priorities to hit our deadlines.
