Week 05

We were able to visit the house to do a test shoot with our actor Isaac. As for exploration purposes, we set up 360 cameras (image on the right) and we plan to not use it as it has a lower quality than what we have expected.

This week we have been working on refining the story and interaction. We were able to create a slide prototype of interaction in the cavern. We plan to go visit the house this Saturday with one of our actors, Isaac, to shoot for a scene 3b1-4. During our weekly meeting, we were able to decide two timelines for our production:

A timeline for testing and iterating the interactivity prototype (We have built a 3D model of the house we’re shooting at with actual dimensions, and will block out a complete storyboard and add sound/dialogue to it) to playtest the interaction design.(Present by 1/2)

A timeline for preparing to shoot the final shooting dates (and post-production needs and timeline)

Progress in different department

On the production side, we met with the house owner Alex revisiting the house for a room tour. We have scheduled the house this Saturday with our actor for a test shoot. We were also able to push for signing the contract with Isaac. We are still following up with casting the actress for the android character.

Logo, team photo, poster, and half sheet all sent to Shirley. Week 1-4 blogs on the website completed.

On the narrative side, a new version of the screenplay was done. We were also able to come up with a slide prototype for our narration and interaction.

On the interaction side, Felix was able to add more details based on the feedback we have received after our meeting with Chris. Also, a viewer’s emotional roadmap of each scenes on both sides.

On the cinematography side, Samantha, Selena, and Jose were able to test shoot scenes using our equipment. This will help us to discuss what other equipment we will need in the future, here are some shots that we have edited into Cavern size:

On the art side, Lucy made a gray box model of the house we planned to shoot, Jose and Samantha will be able to capture shots for the whole script to create a list of scenes for next week to test before we shoot. She was also able to add depth of field, the dead pigeon, and camera movement to the junkyard scene:

Before and after depth

We added the dead pigeon.

Some shots of a 3D model we build to test shots in the house virtually.

Some shots we planed to use in our first scene.

On the tech side, Grace was able to secure tracking of people’s jawlines using Cavern cameras, and she is able to access all points values

Here are the values:
