Week 06

We were able to go to CFA on main campus to get some inspiration from the interactive movie event. We played some retro games and film that we think are quite innovative and interesting.

This week we have been working on refining the story interaction and preparing for ½ presentation. We’ve also met with Ralph and Jaehee Cho to show them the edited test shots we have taken along with our prototype interactions. During our weekly team meeting, we were able to come up with an outline of the ½ presentation. Jonathan introduced us to the interactive game events, and we were able to go to CFA to get some inspiration.

Progress in different department

On the production side, we were able to push for signing the contract with Isaac. We have received two female candidate actors, and will be making decisions based on their availability accordingly. We also come up with the script breakdown list (link)

Week 1-5 blogs on the website completed.

On the story and cinematography side, Samantha and Jose were able to edit the test shoot scenes. They have also done the first draft of our virtual storyboard. Selena, Jose, and Samantha were able to create the Shot list storyboard in photo in Alex’s house. We also received new interactions design from Felix, began reworking new interactions and motif (mirrors) into narrative. We researched some references for our film:

On the sound side, Selena was able to capture Isaac’s dialogs and Samantha will be able to use them in the film.

On the interaction side, Felix was able to adjust the interaction details based on the feedback we have received after our meeting with Ralph and Jaehee Cho.

  1. New Interaction method integrated with Story. (Story is UX, Cinematography is UI)
  2. Update the script with detailed story & interaction method included
    1. Nova Script: Nova Script + Interactivity explained
    2. Julian Script: Julian Script + Interactivity explained

On the art side, Lucy was able to refine the android body design, and test face mocap using Selena’s face.

She also researched ways to further edit metahuman mesh (means not only using a person’s face but also adding extra things and changing the texture of the pre-existing metahuman mesh).

Making so changes for the android body design based on script and camera requirements:

On the tech side, Grace was able to find an easier way to track the head. She’s in the process of grabbing the head rotation:

Besides that, she is able to draw diagram of the hierarchy of scripts and objects that are in the scene:
