Week 01

This week is about kick off the project, familiar with the first draft of the story, and first discussion about the interaction.


Anamnesis is a 12-week exploration of an interactive narrative experience, combining live-action footage with advanced technology to craft an emotionally engaging story. Designed for the C.A.V.E.R.N. system at ETC, the project leverages a 270-degree curved projection screen and a 20-foot-wide interactive play area, enabling local multiplayer interactions in immersive virtual environments. The goal is to showcase the system’s potential, including player interaction design, narrative depth, high-fidelity audio, and real-time user tracking.

As a team, we successfully kicked off on Monday with everyone on board. Throughout the week, everyone reviewed the script, and we made decisions regarding our UX direction (voting from the crowd and interactions with the screen). We also joined the composition work shop hold by Mike and find some interesting ideas from our peers.

On the production side, Selena and Samantha are reaching out to Shirley for budget advice and will handle all pre-production needs for the film, including budget, housing, crew members, etc. Additionally, we’ve set up a project tracker for the team. Felix will design the logo, while Jose will design the poster and half-sheet.


On the narrative side, a first draft of the screenplay was completed by Samantha over winter break. The screenplay was written in short film screenplay format and had some initial ideas for interactivity incorporated. This is a useful starting point for the team (interdisciplinary with UX, cinematography, production and Art) to get the ball rolling.

On the film side, Jose has begun testing film with several team members and will start working on the storyboard with Lucy. Samantha will continue refining the script.

On the art side, Lucy has completed her research and will begin working on the concept art for the first scene.

On the tech and UX side, Grace is exploring interaction possibilities with the sensors (and reading the document on Cavern as well). She will need a clearer UX direction as she starts working on the tech. She will also need help from the other Cavern team to set up the Cavern, and we will be reaching out to Steve as well. Felix is exploring more on interaction possibilities.
