Art

Our artist was away for the Game Developers Conference(GDC) over the week. Various feedback related to visuals we already had is expanded on the “Faculty Meeting” section.

Tech

We have set up our test phone in the GLCR and our working on our second version in order to be able to test the phone in the team project room while we can see guests reaction in the GLCR.

Script

We’ve changed some of the wording of the entry questions in order to get a more direct answer.

Sound

We are working on the background noise for the experience. We are trying to make it calm so the guest will be more comfortable opening up.

Playtesting

We ran three playtests over the weekend where we tested our new onboarding intro and ran through questions in order to figure out what questions yield the best answers from the guest.

Client Meeting

With our experience installed in the GLCR, we asked our client through the experience in the immersive room. Our client picked up on the minor changes in our script, and was pleased by the result and our progress. The experience also sparked discussions around what type of reaction from the guest we would ideally want, and arrived at an interesting conclusion. Perhaps once we start receiving varied reactions ranging from “I hate it,” to “that was really interesting”, that’s the sweet spot.

Faculty Meeting

Faculty discussion was mainly focused on visuals, and aspects of the art we should consider when creating a 3D space for a CAVE system. Since the Immersive Room at the GLCR does not have projectors that shoot images from floor to ceiling, we have to work with the fact that it is not a truly immersive CAVE, and must adapt the visuals to effectively blend into the environment. Since our artist was away for GDC over the week, we plan to reflect those changes in the following week.

Voice Acting

Our test voice actors have recorded the new lines from the script in order to best playtest. We have also added a second female voice actor for some additional testing.

Conclusion

We successfully installed the experience in the room, and we plan to send out a manual and documentation so that the experience can be manned by the student workers at the GLC Room, allowing us to focus on developing while the playtesting happens in parallel.

Have a good weekend. See y’all next week.
