First Digital Prototype
This week, the team completed the first digital prototype of the game. We brought this prototype, along with the paper prototype of the 2D puzzle, to playtest nights, gathering feedback on playtesters’ feelings and experiences.
Playtest & Feedback

Playtester 1:
- Wants to see the music notes displayed on the screen to better simulate the experience of playing music.
- Feels the puzzle difficulty is appropriate.
Playtester 2 & 3:
- Recommended a game reference: Wandersong.
- Suggested that interactable objects should glow or have visual effects when the player moves within a certain distance to indicate they are interactable.
- Prefer not to fail a level due to incorrect inputs. Instead, suggested making mistakes fun and reversible. For example, if the player tries to blow on a tree, a child could appear, spill water, and say something like, “What are you doing? Don’t set the forest on fire!”
Next Steps:
The 2D puzzle mechanics need to be inplemented in the scene. We will also focus on crafting the Halves presentation slides and the demo video to showcase the progress we’ve accomplished, as well as outlining the remaining tasks and plans moving forward.
