Project Overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a project for Artist Mikael Owunna<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are creating a tool\/system<\/strong> to cast 4 visual treatments\/effects<\/strong> onto 5 dancing performers on the stage that will follow their body shape\/movement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each visual treatment is expected to be 15 minutes long (Total 1 hour), but loopable. (For example, 1 minute long treatment multiplied by 15 times) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mikael’s Practice:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hand paint light-sensitive pigment onto the model’s body, and use ultraviolet light (built into a custom-made camera) to cast the vivid African Cosmic patterns. Inspired by stories and African myths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deliverables:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • A functional system of tracking multi performers\u2019 body movement<\/strong>\n
      \n
    • All codes, software used, all files and plugins, essentially everything needed to run the system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • 4 visual treatments<\/strong> and other related graphics<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • A function to activate<\/strong> and deactivate<\/strong> visual treatments when needed (for specific parts of the acts)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The speed of the visual treatments<\/strong> should be adjustable without using code\/going into nodes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • List of equipment used<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • User guide<\/strong> for future setup<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Technical Demo<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      The 4 visual treatments (mostly monochromatic) are inspired by four ages of humanity\/nature in Igbo Philosophy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Azure Kinect or other applicable RGBD hardware that can be used to track 5 performers from a distance. (Note that ideally the camera system should be able to travel to different locations)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • High-def projector(s)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Software: TouchDesigner or other software that allows the integration between tracking and visual generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        By the end of this week, the artists have created 4 mood boards (listed below) matching to the 4 Acts, and they are sent to Mikael for his critique. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
