Week 14: The Final Lap

Can you believe we’re in the final week? It was such a wonderful semester! We’re looking forward to our final presentation and postmortem. This week, we returned to Westinghouse Academy to playtest our new and more complete version of the game. We are also making some last-minute UI edits and collecting our thoughts on production.

Westinghouse Academy Playtest:

Back at Westinghouse Academy, we got a playtest with our SME SoulMan IT, and some students that we played with last time. We were very happy too see them welcome us back and play the game with more confidence.

The key thing that we noticed was that the students liked playing the different writing modes and appreciated the music. They remembered some of the weaknesses and audience preferences but that didn’t stop them from enjoying the game.

UI Edits:

Some of the final things we wanted to rush to put in the game were a station menu and some feedback popups that will appear during the rap battle stage. Most players were confused by our placeholder UI, and this clears up the start of the game more.

With More Time:

Our 3D artist was also experimenting with a shader to connect the 3D characters with the 2D images and UI. Unforunately, we don’t have enough time to fully implement this into the game because it might impact some other visual components.

Next Steps:

Stay tuned for our postmortem and final presentation! Thank you for following our updates this semester!
