Hello everyone, welcome back to our weekly dev blog. This week, our team has directed its efforts towards finalizing the core functionalities and preparing for the playtest day.

Implement: Feedback

To give the playtester a smooth experience, our team focuses on implementing feedback, including sound effects to provide the player with positive feedback on an action, tutorials to deliver the fantasy and basic hand gestures, and an interface to provide feedback on health and mana during each term. We aim to test these on Saturday and see if they work as our team expected.

Playtest Methodology

We have designated the second-floor green screen facility for our playtest, where the television will project the visual perspective of one player’s headset. This arrangement is strategically chosen to observe participant engagement and interaction dynamics throughout the gameplay thoroughly. Additionally, we will encourage participants to verbalize their thoughts and strategies in real time as they engage in offensive and defensive maneuvers. This practice will give us a deeper understanding of the player’s perception and evaluation of our game’s design.

Playtest Result & Future Plan

We hosted playtest sessions the past weekend. We have a total of 24 participants from 10 years old to 50s.Below are the test results,

Tutorial Clarity and Interactivity Enhancement: To address this, we are exploring the integration of auditory instructions and interactive practice modules to get players ready and enrich the gaming experience.

Gesture Recognition Refinement: Feedback has underscored the need for improvements in the intuitiveness and responsiveness of gesture-based controls. Our team is unwavering in our commitment to refining these aspects, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable gameplay experience for our players.
