With clear directions after the team has met and planned, team MoonRover has many significant updates this week: we have created some UI elements as decorations in the planting stage of the game, rover models for levels changing, settlements concept art which later serves for the use of texturing reference, and we did playtestings!

Playtests

We invited a group of high school students who visited ETC to our playtest station. Most of the playtesters did not feel motion sickness throughout the game experience using VR headsets. Some of them have VR experience before and some do not. They also love our original designed and composed music from our sound designer. The guests felt important as being the mission controllers with the background music playing while playing the game. They enjoyed the digging process which we simplified and made it more clear.
However, we also received many useful feedback from our playtesters:
- It was a bit hard to find where the players are when they just entered the world (adjust the camera setting)
- Takes time to figure out the collaboration between the rover body and the robotic arm (more clear instructions with UI)
- Improve the driving mechanics
Team gathered the feedback from playtests and planned for action items for the remaining time.
