Week 7: The Halves
This week was Halves presentations where we talked about what we have been doing in the semester so far: first 3D demo playground, internal testing pipeline, the Castlevania prototype (a demonstration of our flexibility), and our chat with industry professionals. We also recognize that having a toolkit that less than 5 people in the world know how to use is not good enough, so we will spend the rest of the semester improving accessibility and usability.
You can refer to our presentation slides here.
Our presentation was well received among faculty members, with suggestions on testing more with others and we got volunteers wanting to use our package once we have a complete set of tutorials. Always good to get external users.
Second Prototype
From Week 8 to 9 we will be doing a second round of prototyping within the team. We are using a very different format for the second prototype: instead of having the members who worked on the toolkit to also use the toolkit, we will have the other members read the documentation (once it is finished) and try to build something individually. We will be given a prompt (written by YC) and try to finish all tasks that were designed for two purposes: some to iterate the documentation and some to iterate the system features. You can read more about our thought process on playtesting and how to iterate user experience here: https://patpat.gitbook.io/penguin-action-toolkit/beneath-the-feathers/help-on-the-way
Package Updates
- Exported package structure updated (to prepare for internal release)
- ‘lockable’ component is now renamed to ‘aim target’ and can be captured by ‘aim ability’. It will be accessed by ‘model handler’ and automatically generated.
- Now allows different sorting and categorizing patterns for tags.
