This week we hosted a Penguin Action Toolkit Workshop in ETC, hoping that we will be able to support a BVW Round 4 team and have them test our toolkit for festival round. Wuji covered some basic structures and use cases for our toolkit, then demonstrated some functionalities (change an attack, make a combo, create a brand new attack with new animation clips) through interactive activities with the audience. We had about 15 people showed up and they were engaged throughout the hour. Playtest Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Playtest Day was also scheduled for this week, where we host different playtesters in every 20 minute session. We realize that the Playtest Day format may not be the most effective for our project (a toolkit that is never an experience within 20 or 40 minutes), so our reaction is to design two different prompts for different groups we get: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guests With Unity Experience: Go through guide, Step 2-4 including 2 built-in tests<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Ask for feedback on tutorial<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    What is Unity?: Play the 3D sample scene, ask for a feature they want<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • If it\u2019s easy we do it on the spot, if not we judge whether we can do it (kind of a feature test, if you would)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      And it worked. We thought it was a successful attempt at making the best out of a challenging situation. Guests familiar with Unreal’s GAS seemed excited and wanted to connect; guests unfamiliar with game development at all still had a good time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
