Week 4 – Sep 23rd

Week 4 – Sep 23rd

Hello,

This week we settled on our game plan based on our feedback from 1/4s and continued work on our first couple of prototypes.

Feedback/Concepts Suggested from 1/4s:

  • Capturing Drone Footage could offer another perspective.
  • A point-and-click Multicam game
  • Capture BVW Final ( gameplay, player, audience)
  • Lean into POV narrative, to show the contrast between viewpoints
  • Mini-game experiment. Finding something that is only in one view
  • Creating a “living map” that would mark who actively has the ball or playing their instrument, for example.
  • Self-directed swipe video based on people’s favorite moments.

Moving Foward:

Based on the ideas and feedback given during 1/4s we have narrowed down the specific ideas we are going to pursue.

In order to create ~10 prototypes/mockups prior to 1/2s, we’ve decided to dedicate our week-long sprints to exploring the specific categories. If a prototype is close to being finished then that will be prioritized.

This week:

Qiwen is working on creating a mockup for a map of an orchestra seating chart that would allow users of SwipeVideo to easily navigate between orchestral musicians.

Sharon is working on a mockup for how SwipeVideo might be used on a social media platform, such as Tiktok. This prototype may be furthered by exploring what social media could be in the future. Kei, our SwipeVideo partner, brought up the idea of social broadcasting – ie: everyone has their own live television show.

Xinyi has been looking into the possibility of tagging the screen to allow multiple users to align their cameras to the subject. For example, creating a marker that appears on every user’s phone that is supposed to line up with the subject’s feet.

Lucy has continued work on the depth camera, in hopes that it will be able to create a mesh and then be used in a motion-capture setting. She is creating a proposal for a motion-capture team SwipeVideo occasionally works with.

Tuesday has been working on blending archival and modern footage of local landmarks. This idea could be furthered by creating plaques with a QR code which would allow people to swipe through the history, of the place they are standing.

For Week Five, the team will be wrapping up the prototypes they’ve been working on, working on exploring gamified experiences using SwipeVideo, playtesting, and documenting our experiences thus far.

Until then,

Team POV
