We rapidly developed the full hand tracking overlay and guided UI features, which will be our last round of prototyping before Finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Full Overlay<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We reached an exciting milestone:&nbsp;<strong>our overlay system is now functional via hand tracking!<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"https:\/\/projects.etc.cmu.edu\/ppp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/hand-tracking-compressed.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We acknowledge that there\u2019s some lag in the overlay, but as our project is a vertical slice of what&#8217;s possible, we\u2019ve prioritized creating a prototype of our ideal design to demo for Finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We believe this version captures the core magic we envision\u2014seamless blending of physical and virtual interactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Guided UI<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To make interactions intuitive, we designed a\u00a0<strong>guided UI system<\/strong>\u00a0inspired by\u00a0<em>Animal Crossing<\/em>\u2019s warm, approachable style. Its clear prompts and cheerful tone align perfectly with our experience\u2019s mood. We&#8217;d like to thank Felix for his help with it. For now, it\u2019s a functional prototype, but with more time, we\u2019d develop a more unique visual identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"579\" src=\"https:\/\/projects.etc.cmu.edu\/ppp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/UI-1024x579.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-517\" style=\"width:596px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/projects.etc.cmu.edu\/ppp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/UI-1024x579.png 1024w, https:\/\/projects.etc.cmu.edu\/ppp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/UI-300x170.png 300w, https:\/\/projects.etc.cmu.edu\/ppp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/UI-768x434.png 768w, https:\/\/projects.etc.cmu.edu\/ppp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/UI.png 1230w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Future Horizons: Experimental Extensions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While beyond our current scope, we brainstormed ambitious ideas to expand Luceal\u2019s emotional impact:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Eye-tracking for emotional support<\/strong>: Could Luceal leverage the Apple Vision Pro&#8217;s eye tracking to detect user emotions and respond with comforting behaviors? This would revive the therapy pet concept, inviting users to open the app when they need comfort. Brian will explore academic papers on affective computing and human-animal interaction to ground these ideas in science.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These concepts remind us why we\u2019re building this\u2014to create connections that feel&nbsp;<em>alive<\/em>.
