This week we made a lot of progress in design, tech and playtest. But we all agree the tech test is a big challenge for us after quarter.

Experience Design

Two designers come up different indoor experience scenario for client to review, That also inspire the client to think more about what we could cover in the indoor card experience.

The first scenario

The second scenario

Tech

For this week’s development, we implemented a basic indoor experience prototype in Unity. We now are able to track moving images by using AR Core and AR Foundation API. With recognized images, we are able to instantiate models above the image. We also implemented some functionality to support displaying different sets of models when putting two cards together, and this is the core play for our indoor experience. We have a video showing the minimum card game functions below.

For next week, we are focusing on researching some approaches for outdoor experience. We have three options for now. The first is to set some register points for our program to locate the basin. The second is to scan the basin entirely with some technologies, and this approach needs some time to research online. The last one is to use the geolocation information to locate the basin with some Unity AR GPS API. We are also planning to test above mentioned approaches and try to find alternative ways if these are not applicable.

Future Plan

Next week, we plan to build a prototype and also confirm all the playtest. We received extra material from our client about the key content and also some interaction between the plants and animals. We will do some detailed design based on that.
