The team focused on refining our prototypes, strengthening our technical infrastructure, and communicating our project\u2019s long-term vision to faculty, clients, and guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/projects.etc.cmu.edu\/renushu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/IMG_7638-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-190\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Playable Prototype: Heel Raises (Butterfly Watching)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We successfully developed a <strong>playtestable version<\/strong> of our heel-raise mini-game, which serves as both a physical exercise and a cognitive training tool. The game transforms a simple rehabilitation motion into an engaging moment of discovery \u2014 each successful heel raise lets players peek over a bush to see butterflies fluttering above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This mini-game now supports <strong>real-time feedback<\/strong> through haptic vibration cues from the NuShu smart shoes, helping players maintain rhythm and consistency. We also introduced an optional <strong>cognitive layer<\/strong>, allowing the physical therapist (PT) to adjust elements such as the color or number of butterflies and prompt players with simple recall or counting tasks. Built on the data communication framework established in Week 6, the system connects the Unity game and the web application through a <strong>local Wi-Fi QR pairing system<\/strong>, removing the need for external servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PT interface can now visualize live gameplay metrics such as heel raise frequency and success rate, and it enables therapists to <strong>adjust difficulty in real time<\/strong>. This foundation completes the first step toward a dual-sided experience where both patients and therapists interact with the same rehabilitation session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Halves Presentation Highlights<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>During our <strong>Halves Presentation<\/strong>, we shared our project\u2019s overarching goal: transforming rehabilitation into playful, data-driven experiences through physical-cognitive integration.
