Week 5 Blog: ECD in Roblox

ECD in Roblox

This diagram is our basic structure of evidence-centered design in Roblox. We are aiming to combine three different models in stealth assessment and apply them in Roblox.

For Competency Model, it refers to a collection of competencies that are needed for effective job performance. The whole part of the gameplay can be used as a reference. We will divide core knowledge into small parts to better track the player’s learning. For example, in our physics demo, we narrow down friction as core knowledge, friction can also be broken down into sliding and rolling friction.

For the task model, it is like a list of what content may elicit the evidence we needed. In this case, we are planning on using โ€œChapterโ€ and โ€œLevelsโ€ as the progress for example of the physics study case we used for our current prototype. So at each level, we alter the contents and make a progressive model to track the player’s learning comprehensively.

The last one is the evidence model, which represents the detailed data of learning. We are still working on the details but we will probably have time consumption (for each level), completion, number or retry, and thinking time as the data we wanna collected. With that database we can further analyze and prove the player learning, then combined it to get a result.

Next Week

Now we have the guideline for the assessment method, next week we will work on applying those methods to game design. See you next week.
