Week 6

This week, the team have a great progress on game design experience and narrative development. The tech team also started to explore the SDK from tilt five and ways to deploy puzzles on Arduino chips.

Tech Progress

Unity – Tilt 5 SDK

The team started to implement the developing kit provided by Tilt 5 in Unity, testing out the provided example to see if everything work.

They also developed a prototype of digital graffiti wall that player can use mouse to paint on the wall.

Hardware – Arduino/ESP 32

The team also explore on different possible hardware that could be incorporate in the play experience through ESP32 and Arduino.

  • RFID Reader
    • The team successfully connected the RFID reader with Unity so the game can response to the read-in data.
  • E-ink Screen
    • The team also try to explore E-Ink Screen and figured out they need more parts to make it work.

Story

The team came up with a solid story line that the design of art can follow with.

Observation

The team went to observe children playing different tabletop games and come up with the following observations:

  • They prefer colorful props
  • Book art is classy, for 10-year-old, that means the art is unique
  • They love to upright the retro tech, even took turn to play with the dial phone and to tune the radio
  • They tend to be unsettled until they found the game is deductive or pattern recognition or spelling words
