Time: 11/14-11/20

Summary:

Second trip to La MaMa! This time we cleared a few goals:

  • Playtest and feedback – We finally met Ozzie (Director of Archive) in person! He tried the experiences with us and found them both experimental and interesting. Ozzie continued to help us review our content and made sure we had the correct information to show. ‍Shigeko Suga, Archive Associate, and a few La MaMa interns playtested as well.
  • Video documentation – We filmed the AR demos on-site and interviewed stakeholders from La MaMa. The demos are attached below and video interviews will be compiled to make project trailer videos and a short documentary by the end of the semester.
  • On-site tech adjustment – Before the trip, the faces for Carmilla aligned to our bench in the project room, but it’s different from the actual bench in the archive. Bokang and Ray worked together to adjust the alignment on-site.

Interview with Federico Restrepo

Federico Restrepo is the founder and artistic director of Dance/Puppet Theatre Company, Loco7, formerly known as Puppets and Drummers. His goal as a director has been to design the set and puppets as an extension of the dancer’s body. He has premiered, designed, performed, and directed several original pieces at La MaMa in New York City, with subsequent tours worldwide.

Federico Restrepo

We are working with him to bring one of his puppets alive. After a conversation at La MaMa, he gladly accepted our design to let people virtually wear the puppet. We will be developing the experience for the next few weeks.
