This week marks the official start of Full Tilt and the formation of our team, Wizard Mode! We met with our clients from the ETC K-12 team and focused on figuring out the project’s goals and the team’s roles.
The team is a great mix of different disciplines such as design, 2D and 3D art, tech art, and programming. This allows us as a team to experiment with different avenues when it comes to designing this experience.
Our client presented a basic overview of the goal: Create an immersive pinball experience for multigenerational families.
Since the goal is broad, we focused on brainstorming ideas and writing up ideas to present the following week. Our ideas revolved around the aspect of combining digital elements with physical elements of pinball, something that was proven to be quite exciting for the client. However, we were still a little confused about the exact scope and specifications, which led us to face some challenges when brainstorming. To combat this, we came up with a list of questions for our next instructor meeting.
Our final ideas included combining a physical board with projections and optical illusions. The need for a physical board was emphasized through the Playtest to Explore workshop, where our peers mentioned that a physical board would make the experience more engaging.
