Our journey is almost complete! With finals around the corner, we focused on finalizing the major parts of our project. Our first priority was the second plunger. It took a while, but it was finally finished Wednesday of this week. With the plunger ready, we were able to begin actually building the prototype housing unit for our project.

Because we were delayed with the plunger, we were not able to invest as much time as we wanted towards the housing unit. We improvised and used materials that we bought for the project but hadn’t used, such as foam tile. Initially, during the prototype phase, we thought that the foam tile would be used to create 3D shapes that we could stick onto the projection board. But as we moved away from projection mapping, we did not use the foam tile at all. Making it the perfect piece to use in our housing unit. We stuck three foam tiles together and shaved off the ends to match the table. We then added squares around each of the plungers to add more structure to the plunger’s area. We ended up creating a clean prototype for our housing unit. Since we did not have time to make it more robust, we are recommending ETC K-12 to work on that as the first task post-semester!

Disaster did strike on Wednesday and Thursday as we were finalizing the digital parts and the controllers of the game. While the setup was complete, there were bugs in both the digital game and in the controls. The new plunger’s sensor was measuring distances that were way too high, making it incredibly sensitive to touch, and it would launch balls without the plunger being pulled. Other bugs included the drop targets not falling down, and some collision issues. Jasmine got to work on fixing the bugs, while we attempted to film parts of our final trailer and finish up our presentation. After the bugs were fixed on Thursday, we were able to film the rest of our trailer and edit it over the weekend.

With our presentation on Monday, we focused on telling the journey of Full Tilt from beginning to end, starting with how our final setup looked. We also created a trailer of our experience that showcases our LEDs, controls, and final digital experience. We were really pleased with our final presentation and are looking forward to presenting next week! With that, here is our final trailer!
Next Week’s Goals
- Wrap up documentation
- Present Full Tilt!
