As this week was shorter than usual due to a holiday, we primarily focused on presenting our ideas to both our faculty advisor and our client. We are determined to have an experience that combines the physical board of pinball but has the theming of pinball projected on the board. Additionally, Skye brought a type of film that could be used to mimic a hologram, which contributes to our theme of creating optical illusions.
One challenge that we found is that the tech required to do the type of ball tracking we were visualizing (a digital ball with physical flippers to hit it) would be difficult to achieve, as most of the team members are not confident they could pull it off. However, we are planning on at least attempting to do this, as through our research we found that it was possible to achieve through some hardware engineering and tracking. If our initial tests don’t work, we’ll still have physical components (such as the board and plungers), but tracking flippers will be tabled.
As we finalized our plan, we also began planning for quarters.
Challenges:
- Finalizing our product
- Starting the prototype process
- Establishing the pain points of the team and of the project early on
Next Week’s Goals:
- Create our Quarters Presentation
- Create our paper/digital prototypes
- Start on drafts of our half-sheet, poster, and logo
