Week 4 – Designing the Playfield

After quarters last week, we were excited to begin designing the experience from the ground up and figuring out critical details like equipment. The majority of this week was spent figuring out our final design plans for the pinball theme, playfield design, and overall construction of the experience. William made a diagram of our general design, while YC came up with a design for the playfield.

One of the ideas we wanted to play with within the digital aspect of our experience was theme switching, or having the board change depending on where the pinball hit. It allowed for us to be able to utilize the full potential of being a digital experience while also being unique. For this, we needed three different themes, so the art team (Skye, Cynthia, and Meghna) got to work on creating an art deck to pitch at our next instructor meeting. Jasmine worked on programming the digital game to work on creating a framework for theme switching. By the end of the week, we had sent all design decks to our client and instructor and awaited their feedback
