Week 7 – Halves

Halves Presentation:

Welcome once again! This week marked our Midpoint Presentation. Our group showcased our work on Monday morning, and below are a few snapshots from our session:

Following our presentation, we met as a team to outline our post-midpoint tasks. We are expecting the arrival of Nextiles sleeves soon and plan to integrate them with the camera movement and the cooling system. Additionally, we’re working to strengthen the cooperation between the pilot and the engineer. We have divided the tasks into the following main aspects:

Tech:

  1. Set up Nextiles Sleeves
  2. Integrate the devices into Unity

Art:

  1. 3D Assets
  2. UI for Unity Scenes
  3. Props and room build-up

Here’s a breakdown of responsibilities for each team member:

Advisors’ Meeting:

On Thursday, our instructors Professor Kelley and Professor Johnson had a weekly meeting with us. Here is a summary of what we discussed:

First, we need to determine the total number of devices required and think about alternating devices for each run. Secondly, the tactsuit was tested loosely, suggesting that we might not need tight sleeves. Large sizes could suffice for a wider audience.

Also, our project differentiates itself by focusing on body movements and wearable technology. A potential tagline could be: “Wearables and tech.” This unique angle is crucial when presenting to newcomers or those unfamiliar with the project.

Finally, we have to decide between two NDA options: one from CMU and the other from Nextiles. For now, we prefer to use the CMU one.

Fall Break Plan:

We are not planning to do tons of work during the fall break, nor are we planning to do no work at all. We just follow our own pace (and do each individual’s part of work) and then catch up after the Fall Break.

Hope everyone has a joyful Fall Break and take a good Rest! See you all next week and thanks for reading!
