Welcome back to Xtension Blog! We&#8217;re entering Week 5, and our Halves will take place next Monday! Therefore, a significant focus of this week&#8217;s work revolves around preparing for the Halves.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>Advisor\u2019s Meeting:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We had our advisors\u2019 meeting on Monday and we updated our game loop and reiterated our narrative with our instructors Charles and Heather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Narrative:<\/strong> A future where Earth is uninhabitable, involving interactions with virtual\/augmented reality environments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>User Roles:<\/strong> Experience for two roles &#8211; a pilot and an engineer, each with unique responsibilities and interactions within the virtual and physical environments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>User Experience and Interaction Design:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pilot<\/strong>: Navigates through a virtual world using a Tactsuit and Nextiles sleeves, locates fuel, and controls a vehicle with the ability to manipulate perception of time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Engineer<\/strong>: Engages with both physical and virtual elements, tasked with managing vehicle and cargo maintenance using thermal cameras and EMG sensors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Interaction Modes<\/strong>: Includes gestures, muscle movements (via EMG), and potentially other physical and virtual interfaces.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gameplay Mechanics<\/strong>: Resource management (e.g., water for cooling), day\/night cycle manipulation, navigation, and physical\/virtual interactions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Potential Expansion<\/strong>: The experience might evolve into a single-player version but currently focuses on multi-player interactions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Technical Implementation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Technologies<\/strong>: We want to use Nextiles sleeves, EMG sensors, thermal cameras, and haptic tactsuits and try to make them connect to Unity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Challenges we have<\/strong>: Ensuring the Tactsuit is user-friendly, manages effective communication of directional information, and integrates various technological elements for an intuitive experience. Setting up Nextiles sleeves for the first time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Material Interaction<\/strong>: Involvement of speculative materials (e.g., dark energy) as fuel sources, interacting with contemporary and political themes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Narrative and Gameplay Enhancement:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>We want to dig more into potential links to meditation or environmental connections.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Narrative Drive<\/strong>: Inquiries into enhancing user engagement with a defined objective or drama within the gameplay.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Backstory Considerations<\/strong>: Developing a backstory around speculative materials and the human-nature relationship in the narrative.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>Preparation for Halves<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week, we continue to polish our Halves Presentation slides, aiming to maintain clarity while highlighting key points. Our rehearsal with the instructors is scheduled for Friday, during which we&#8217;ll implement minor modifications according to their feedback.
