A Collaborative Scene Building & Programming Experience
A² Studio is a student team at Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center for the Fall 2022 Semester. The team is developing a project for Alice to explore the idea of collaborative learning as a potential future direction for the Alice Project
Alice Together is a 2-player collaborative experience where two students work together to build animated scenes together. To achieve that they need to go through a series of collaborative activities, including Creating a Prompt, Selecting Objects, Building the 3D Scene and Block Programming. The final outcome upon successful completion will be a fully playable video file.
Alice is an innovative block-based programming environment that makes it easy to create animations, build interactive narratives, or program simple games in 3D. Unlike many of the puzzle-based coding applications Alice motivates learning through creative exploration. Alice is designed to teach logical and computational thinking skills, fundamental principles of programming and to be a first exposure to object-oriented programming. The Alice Project provides supplemental tools and materials for teaching using Alice across a spectrum of ages and subject matter with proven benefits in engaging and retaining diverse and underserved groups in computer science education.
